Ben Affleck a beaucoup trop de classe pour ça, mais il a quand même fait passer son message de façon clair et net. Il ne dit pas" je ne suis plus intéressé", il suffit juste de le lire:

"I just wouldn’t want to go in and direct in the way they’re doing that.”

Gunn lui a présenté son plan, avec ce qu'il voulait pour le futur de DC et Affleck a dit non.

You’ve got to figure out, what’s your version of the person? Who is the guy that fits what you can do? I tried to fit myself into a Batman. And by the way, I like a lot of the stuff we did, especially the first one [Batman v Superman].

HR : But not Justice League. What went wrong there?

BA : Justice League … You could teach a seminar on all the reasons why this is how not to do it. Ranging from production to bad decisions to horrible personal tragedy, and just ending with the most monstrous taste in my mouth. The genius, and the silver lining, is that Zack Snyder eventually went to AT&T and was like, “Look, I can get you four hours of content.” And it’s principally just all the slow motion that he shot in black-and-white. And one day of shooting with me and him. He was like, “Do you want to come shoot in my backyard?” I was like, “I think there are unions, Zack. I think we have to make a deal.” But I went and did it. And now [Zack Snyder’s Justice League] is my highest-rated movie on IMDb.

HR : Isn’t that because Zack Snyder’s fans are so intense online?

BA : Say what you want, it is my highest-rated career movie. I’ve never had one that went from nadir to pinnacle. Retroactively, it’s a hit. All of a sudden I was getting congratulated for the bomb I’m in. But I was going to direct a Batman, and [Justice League] made me go, “I’m out. I never want to do any of this again. I’m not suited.” That was the worst experience I’ve ever seen in a business which is full of some shitty experiences. It broke my heart. There was an idea of someone [Joss Whedon] coming in, like, “I’ll rescue you and we’ll do 60 days of shooting and I’ll write a whole thing around what you have. I’ve got the secret.” And it wasn’t the secret. That was hard. And I started to drink too much. I was back at the hotel in London, it was either that or jump out the window. And I just thought, “This isn’t the life I want. My kids aren’t here. I’m miserable.” You want to go to work and find something interesting to hang onto, rather than just wearing a rubber suit, and most of it you’re just standing against the computer screen going, “If this nuclear waste gets loose, we’ll …” That’s fine. I don’t condescend to that or put it down, but I got to a point where I found it creatively not satisfying. Also just, you’re sweaty and exhausted. And I thought, “I don’t want to participate in this in any way. And I don’t want to squander any more of my life, of which I have a limited amount.”

HR : So if DC came to you now and said, “Do you want to direct something?”

BA : I would not direct something for the [James] Gunn DC. Absolutely not. I have nothing against James Gunn. Nice guy, sure he’s going to do a great job. I just wouldn’t want to go in and direct in the way they’re doing that. I’m not interested in that.

Moi j'y voit plutôt une énorme lassitude vis-à-vis des licences éreintantes et drivées par des exécutifs bidons qui retournent autant la tête des spectateurs que celle des professionnels-mêmes impliqués dans les projets, et le "they" ne concerne pas tant Gunn que le studio et ses décisionnaires.

Ah bah tu m'étonne, après avoir eu le backlash des "fans" lors de son cast, la shitstorm de BvS, comment il a été niqué par la Warner, tout ça pour voir son film solo annulé et son ami Zack traité comme de la merde par WB, ouais il est lassé.
Mais Mr Gunn devait ouvrir sa gueule pour faire genre que c'est un bon samaritain, et d'essayer de se mettre les fans de Snyder/Batfleck dans sa poche sauf que Bruce Wayne l'a gentiment remis à sa place

Et le pire, c'est que Gunn sous entend même que Ben serait à la table des décisionnaires:

Faudra vraiment m'expliquer comment on est censés considérer le TSS de Gunn comme un flop alors qu'il est littéralement sorti en pleine pandémie + day one sur HBO-Max.

T'es 1 an et demi après le début d'une pandémie, pandémie qui a fais perdre de l'argent à beaucoup de monde, une place de ciné coûte 14€ et le covid est toujours un truc dangereux pour pas mal de personnes.

Pourquoi aller au cinéma pour ce film si t'en as pas besoin et que tu peux juste le voir en streaming ou dans le pire des cas le dl ?

Les snydersexuels qui veulent faire passer ça pour un flop immense dû à la qualité du film alors que tout le monde sais que c'est juste votre putain d'opposition exagérée motivée par le fait que Snyder continue pas.

Présent. Les gardiens de la galaxy de Gunn est toujours un de mes films du mcu préférés.

Même si j'ai un peu perdu foi en lui après cette purge de the suicide squad (qui a flop en plus) j'ai apprécié la plupart de ces films.

J'aime pas les Gardiens de la Galaxy ni les Suicid Squad, et vu comment Gunn à l'air de prendre de mauvaises décisions et comment il a chié à la Gunn de Cavill et Affleck bah je l'aime pas forcément plus

Pour Snyder, ça dépend, il est capable du meilleur comme du pire

Je peux très difficilement dire que j'aime Snyder mais j'aime énormément son Watchmen, j'ai encore un peu de sympathie pour son 300 et je "respecte" la vision qu'il avait tenté de caler pour le DCEU, même si en décalage avec mes propres goûts. Je ne sais pas si c'est suffisant pour ne pas être vu comme faisant nécessairement partie d'une équipe plutôt qu'une autre, même si à choisir je vais préférer être dans celle de Gunn.
