Mc Manaman vers City ?

Kevin Keegan a reconnu dans la presse britannique que l´ailier du Real Madrid, Steve Mc Manaman, était sur ses tablettes pour renforcer Manchester City la saison prochaine. L´ancien international anglais, à qui il reste un an de contrat avec le club merengue, rejoindrait ainsi son ancien entraîneur en sélection nationale ainsi que son partenaire à Liverpool, Robbie Fowler.

Déçu de ne pas être plus souvent titulaire au sein de l´équipe madrilène, Mc Manaman retrouverait du temps de jeu et un championnat qui l´a révélé. Pour Kevin Keegan, ce transfert assurerait en plus le remplacement d´un joueur clé qui devrait retourner dans son club d´origine : le milieu de terrain de l´OL Marc-Vivien Foé.

Espagne : Le Real Madrid s´impose ( 2-1) à Valence et reprend la tête

Samedi soir, un doublé de Ronaldo a permis au Real Madrid de s´imposer ( 2-1) sur le terrain de Valence et de s´emparer provisoirement de la première place du classement aux dépens de la Real Sociedad qui se déplace dimanche sur le terrain de Malaga. LES FAITS MARQUANTS
Après avoir fait chuter La Corogne samedi dernier, Valence espérait faire la même chose face au Real et l´emporter pour rester 4e. Les Valencians sont tombés sur des Merengue revanchards depuis leur élimination en C1. Ronaldo n´a pas manqué son retour sur le pelouse de Mestalla en inscrivant les deux buts de la victoire. Un succès ( 1-2) qui permet aux Madrilènes de s´installer provisoirement en tête de la Liga.

La Corogne a lourdement chuté sur le terrain de son voisin, le Celta Vigo ( 3-0). Un derby galicien complètement manqué pour Le Deportivo qui a sans doute perdu le titre. Le Celta se hisse à la 4e place et fait un grand pas vers la C1.

Liga: Le Real reprend la tête
Le Real Madrid s´impose à Valence, 2-1, pour le compte de la 35e journée de la Liga. Une victoire obtenue grâce à un doublé de Ronaldo qui replace les Merengue en tête du classement avec deux points d´avance sur la Real Sociedad. Mestalla était le théâtre du choque de cette 35ième journée de Liga. A la blessure de Makelele s’est ajoutée celle de Fernando Hierro. Pavon prit la place de deuxième défenseur central et Guti compléta le duo de récupérateurs avec Flavio Conceiçao. En première mi-temps, la tension qui régnait au milieu du terrain provoquait beaucoup de pertes de balle, ce qui conduit les équipes à opérer par contre-attaque. C’est comme cela que Ronaldo se créa sa première occasion. Le trio offensif adverse composé de Fabio Aurelio, Aimar et Vincente causa également quelques ennuis à la défense madrilène et plus précisément à son axe. Sur un centre du Portugais, Luis Figo, Ronaldo marqua son 2ième but de la tête de la saison, après celui de Moscou. Mais Valence ne baisse pas si facilement les bras. Fabio Aurelio, déjà auteur de 2 buts le week-end passé face au Deportivo, remit les équipes à égalité. La seconde mi-temps fut clairement dominée par le Real Madrid, surtout au niveau de la circulation de balle. La délivrance arriva quelques minutes après l’heure de jeu. Luis Figo fit une passe en profondeur vers Ronaldo qui contrôla, dribla Cañizares et marqua son deuxième but de la soirée. Dans le derby galicien, opposant le Deportivo et le Celta Vigo, ce sont les seconds qui l’ont emporté, écartant toute chance de titre pour le Deportivo.

Ronaldo became the heroe of the evening on Valencia’s ground. His two targets made it possible for Real to clinch to the top of the table. The Brazilian striker has scored 26 goals so far this season, fulfilling his promise from last September. Del Bosque’s boys showed all their authority during the second half of the game. Hierro was a last-minute absence and Pavón had to take over from him. Guti was cautioned so he will be out of the next match against Celta, which tonight beat Deportivo dragging them away from the top positions. Real Madrid is temporarily at the top of the standings pending Real Sociedad’s result in Málaga.
The first half did not leave either side a second to breathe. Both of them played with the highest intensity, especially in the midfield, which provoked many turnovers and counterattacks. This is how Ronaldo’s first chance was brought about. Valencia faced up to the challenge trying hard to get past Flavio and Guti. Aimar stepped up with the support from his teammates Vicente and Fabio Aurelio. The Argentinean player made some dangerous moves between lines, especially when he got a link to Baraja.

But it had to be Ronaldo who put Real ahead ( 25’). The Brazilian forward, who hit his first header in Moscow, did it again from a precise centre shot of Figo’s. The white players had not been superior so far, mainly because they had not had the possession of the ball. Guti was trying to manage the white play very intelligently, but the strong pressure from the locals did not allow the ball to move around the field.

Valencia did not give up on the fight with all its drive coming from Vicente, Baraja, Carew and, above all of them, from Aimar, who kept charging on the opposing goal. Casillas did his best to keep his goal unbeaten. The draw was finally made thirty minutes into the game. Figo and Salgado failed to understand each other and Aimar took advantage to send it to Fabio Aurelio, who finally scored from the edge of the area.

Real Madrid relied on their power to hit back. Raúl and Ronaldo were close on two occasions. The local fans by then were showing all their support to their squad. Early in the second half, Ronaldo and Raúl also enjoyed a couple of clear chances that made it clear who was in command. Aware of the danger of the visiting side, Valencia withdrew to their ground.

The home crowd was not happy about the visitor’s clear authority on the pitch. The lethal stroke could happen any moment. The local side went a bit flat after all the effort they had made in the first half. Figo sent a long-range pass to Figo, who got around Cañizares to make it 1-2 ( 65’).

Guti, Zidane, Figo and Raúl took control of the game making it hard for the home side to get hold of the ball. Roberto Carlos had the chance to secure the win, but his shot went wide ten minutes from time. The local coach replaced Pellegrino with Mista and Cambiasso came on for Figo. The three points have put Real at the top of the standings pending Real Sociedad’s result. Celta will be the next meeting for the Whites.

On making an impression in the game…

When you play you have to think in your mind that you are going to be among the best players on the pitch, that it’s going to be the best match of your life, that it’s going to be the last chance. The best way to impress the coaches is to go into the field with personality. You have to show your own personality and knowing that you have worked hard from the day you started playing football to get to this moment, from now on you are going to show what you can do with the ball.

On becoming famous…

The first time I signed an autograph It was in 1992, after winning a promotion to the Brazilian Premier League since then people have asked me for my autograph in the street.
Running down a tunnel knowing that there are 80,000 or 100,000 people in the stadium makes me feel privileged because to get the chance play in front of that sort of crowd you had to go through a lot of difficulties before.
The first time that people cried out my name? I felt the happiest man in the world.

On the good and bad side of fame…

The good thing is to know that you are being beamed into people’s houses everyday on TV. And the bad thing is the moment you stop signing autographs because people don’t ask you any more.
It’s a huge responsibility to represent a whole country, to wear the shirt of the biggest club in the world. But it is something that would make anyone happy.
I have a family that makes me aware of the fact that I have to go out there to make 170 million people happy… or even 200 million. Because it’s difficult to get to the top and they have helped me to do me do it, I have to pay back the trust that people have put in me with goals, championships and the joy of being able to play football.
